Information Seminars
As part of our commitment to patient care and good clinical outcomes, we offer several patient education opportunities. Informational seminars are designed to give prospective patients the opportunity to learn more about obesity surgery options. Support groups provide a forum for post-op patients to share experiences, have questions answered, and gain encouragement from peers. Prospective patients are encouraged to attend a support group to learn more about the experiences of others.

For general questions about obesity - what causes it; what are its complications; treatment options - please see my Obesity Information seminar presentation.

Our patient seminars are held on Saturdays.

Obesity Information Seminars - What Everyone Should Know

Executive Dining Room (next to Cafeteria), New York methodist Hospital, 506 6th Street, NY 11215

Date and Time:
10:00AM - 12:00 Noon; Every third Saturday of the Month

This is a free public information seminar delivered by a bariatric surgeon. It is primarily intended for the benefit of those who are 80 pounds or more over their ideal body weight and have struggled unsuccessfully to overcome this problem. You are welcome to bring along family and friends or you could attend as a concerned friend or family of someone with severe obesity. Dr Thodiyil will review the complications of untreated obesity and review with you the treatment options available including the Lap band and gastric bypass. He will highlight the harm in delaying treatment, especially if you are also diabetic.

Please register online for the seminar.
